The British Association for Slavonic and East European Studies (BASEES) is delighted to welcome delegates to its 2026 Annual Conference, hosted in person at the Centre for Russian, European and Eurasian Studies (CREES) at the University of Birmingham from Friday, 10 April to Sunday, 12 April 2026.
As the UK’s national learned society devoted to the study of Russia, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, BASEES brings together a vibrant international community, scholars, researchers, postgraduate students, and policy-makers from the UK, Europe, North America and beyond.
Building on the success of previous conferences, BASEES 2026 will feature keynote lectures, thematic panels, roundtables, and a publisher exhibition
Over three days at Birmingham’s historic and dynamic campus, participants will explore cutting-edge research spanning politics, culture, economy, and media, alongside special programmes and engaging networking events.
