The 2025 Cape Town Convention Conference will take place on Tuesday, 2nd and Wednesday, 3rd September at Robinson College, Cambridge. Hosted by the Cape Town Convention Academic Project, the event will be held in person, with a virtual option for those unable to attend physically.
This year’s theme focuses on treaty implementation, particularly the CTC. Experts in international and treaty law will lead sessions on key issues such as court rules, non-judicial remedies, administrative procedures like de-registration and export, and perspectives from the Aircraft, Rail, and MAC Protocols.
There are also two other relevant events in the UK during the conference week. There will be a launch of the Guide on Best Practices for Electronic Business Registries, which has been developed by the project on Best Practices in the Field of Electronic Registry Design and Operation (part of the Cape Town Convention Academic Project) on Monday, 1st September at 3 pm. The launch, which will consist of an explanation and discussion of the Guide, is followed by a drinks reception and will take place at Robinson College, Cambridge.
UNIDROIT will also be organising an international conference on the benefits of the Rail Protocol and MAC Protocol to the Cape Town Convention on Friday, 5th September in London (exact location to be determined). The event will provide an opportunity for diplomatic representatives, government officials, private sector stakeholders, legal practitioners and academics to learn more about the operation of these Protocols and how they facilitate credit expansion and sustainable development.
