Profile of Dr Lars Roepstorff
Qualified: Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Institution/Practice: Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry, Unit of Equine studies. Career: Working in equine practice both as a private practitioner and at the University equine clinic in parallel with PhD studies 1985-1997. PhD in 1997 and Associate professor in 2002. Senior lecturer at the Equine studies program 1997-2011 and professor since 2011. 2000-2005 head of department of Equine studies. Chair of the ICEL (International and Canine conference on Locomotion) 2012. Interests: Equine biomechanics. Developing methods for equine locomotion analysis and applying them in 3 major areas. 1) Arena/race track surfaces and their functional properties in relation to performance and orthopaedic health; 2) Horse-rider interaction. Effects of rider and saddle on performance and health of the horse; 3) Objective tools as an aid in lameness assessment.
