Making Surgical Technology Smart
This talk presents work in the Surgical Technologies research group at Leeds, investigating ways in which we can improve surgical instruments and healthcare systems. We focus on RollerBall, a robotic alternative to conventional colonoscopy, and the research challenges associated with this work. We then consider the often overlooked clinical needs associated with incontinence, and the ways in which we are addressing these through applied engineering.
