Profile of Mike Hayes
Since leaving the Royal Air Force in 1979, Mike has spent thirty five years in the field of data centre cooling for three major manufacturers. A spell in research and development fostered a keen interest in both psychrometrics and thermodynamics, and also allowed him to develop and apply his knowledge of aerodynamics and fluid flow.
With a passion for reducing energy consumption, Mike has recently been working with the design team to produce a new, highly energy efficient range of air conditioning equipment. The result can now be seen in many IT facilities around the world, as the successful GEA Multi-DENCO range.
Mike is currently working on cooling solutions for ever increasing heat load densities, and the application of alternative technologies to machine room cooling. Any spare time is also spent studying fluid dynamics, either as a gliding instructor or whilst flying and maintaining his 1943 former āDā Day vintage aircraft!
