Profile of Huw Owen
Huw Owen joined Ark in November 2012 as Chief Executive to lead a new Management Team following the recapitalisation of the company. He is responsible for ensuring that Ark establishes itself as the leading player in the UK Data Centre market.
Huw joined Ark from BT where he was President, Global Health and a member of the BT Global Services Leadership Team. Prior to BT, he was Managing Director of HP's UK Defence and Security business, leading the delivery of major transformational projects, and providing technology solutions across the UK and European defence sectors and into military theatres of operation. He was a member of the HP UK Board.
Other roles in his extensive career include Chief Executive of the Atlas Consortium, delivering the Ministry of Defence DII (Defence Information Infrastructure) programme and Vice President of the EDS EMEA Start up organisation responsible for ensuring the effective start-up of all new business of US$100m or greater across the region.
A qualified lawyer, Huw practiced law at Farrer & Co and DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary before joining EDS. He also worked for the Asia Foundation, formulating and driving national reform programmes in Cambodia, followed by a short stint doing consultancy work with United Nations advising on the lessons learnt from Cambodia and the best approach to their implementation in Central Asia. Before this, he served with the Royal Hong Kong Police Force, latterly as a Detective Inspector.
