Profile of Dr Joanne Power
Dr Joanne Power is a postdoctoral research associate at the Centre for Parasitology at the University of Glasgow and one of the organisers of BSP 2026.
Joanne's work focusses on the early stages of malaria transmission from the vertebrate host to the mosquito vector. Joanne uses experimental rodent malaria and Anopheles mosquito vectors to investigate the full Plasmodium life cycle, and is currently optimising single-cell RNA sequencing approaches to identify novel molecular mechanisms underlying parasite virulence and transmissibility.
