Mrs Pearl Akazue

I am interested in the discovery and development of effective new drugs against protozoal diseases predominant in sub-Saharan Africa. Currently, my focus is on Animal African Trypanosomiasis (AAT), the major livestock disease that affects agricultural production in Africa with adverse socio-economic implications. To provide insights highly needed for the discovery of new drugs against AAT, I seek to understand how natural and synthetic small molecules/compounds carry out their antitrypanosomal activities.
