Dr Tomas Machacek

I am a postdoctoral fellow at Charles University (CZ) with a background in parasitology and immunobiology. I study the host-parasite interactions in mice 🐭 experimentally infected with helminths and how the infections affect other pathological conditions (autoimmunity 🫁, neurodegeneration 🧠, cancer progression 🧫). My model species include avian and human schistosomes (Trichobilharzia, Schistosoma), dog roundworms (Toxocara canis), and larval cestodes (Taenia crassiceps, Mesocestoides corti).
