Profile of Prof Alan Fairlamb
The overarching theme of my research has been the discovery and detailed molecular characterisation of potential drug targets; and their assessment for essentiality and “druggability” by genetic and chemical methods. Research interests include: modes of drug action; mechanisms of drug resistance; chemical and genetic validation of novel drug targets; and drug discovery against malaria, African trypanosomiasis, Chagas’ disease and leishmaniasis.
