Profile of Mrs Jennifer Vincent
Jen Vincent joined the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) originally in October 2014 as part of the Humber Apprenticeship Support Service (HASS).
Jenny was part of a small team that delivered impartial advice, guidance and support to Humber based SMEs in a pilot programme funded by the University of Lancaster. This successful pilot created 157 new apprentice jobs and 26 graduate internships.
Jenny joined the LEP from her previous role as Employer Advisor working for the Department for Work and Pensions for over 22 years. During this time, Jenny managed a number of high impact initiatives such as Sector Based Work Academies, Universal Jobmatch, and led in the Care Sector recruitment for the Humber, gaining a national customer service award.
Following the cessation of the one year HASS pilot, Jenny continued working in the LEP team, initially as a Communications Officer before joining the Employment and Skills Team in August 2016. Jenny’s role is to promote and manage the Humber Skills Pledge, an innovative engagement programme that links employers’ skills pledges to Humber residents in the areas of work experience, graduate internships, apprenticeships and employer training. The Pledge is part of the Humber’s Springboard programme, which focuses on working with young people who are furthest away from economic activity. Run in partnership with the four Humber Local Authorities, Springboard has resulted in 1,235 young people supported through the programme.
Jenny comments, Since being at the LEP, I have been able to utilise my extensive networks of local partners to ensure we work collaboratively and efficiently; this has helped the Humber deliver an increased number of skills initiatives that will drive economic development for the region
