Dr Colin Sutherland

I am a parasitologist with a background in zoology and genetics, with a research focus on malaria. I joined the BSP and attended my first meeting (the Society's September Malaria Meeting held annually in those days) at Liverpool in 1997. I've scarcely missed a spring meeting since. I was nominated as vice-President of the Society by then incoming President Maria-Gloria Basanez in 2018, and attended my first Council at the Aberystwyth meeting. Serving on BSP Council for the last five years has been an absolute privilege, and I am wholeheartedly optimistic about the future, as Jo Hamilton takes over the reins from April 2023 with a great team of parasitologists around her.
