Discussion
The Russian war of aggression in Ukraine is not only leading to major shifts in the geopolitical landscape of Europe but also causing widespread disruptions in the personal geographies and histories of people both within Ukraine and abroad. Since the outbreak of the war, social media has been at the forefront of its coverage, providing users with platforms to exchange ideas and opinions while emerging as powerful tools for various forms of witnessing and narrating the wartime.
To critically engage with the mediatisation of the war, this research aims to explore the reimagining of war narratives through the rise of digital diaries. Personal war blogs, commonly referred to by users as "A War Diary," have become one of the most widely used forms of Facebook posts in Ukraine. These blogs serve as vital tools for conveying personal narratives of wartime experiences and play a crucial role in maintaining the world that is falling into radical disintegration and transformation.
This paper will highlight how digital platforms have transformed the practice of documenting war, giving rise to new, dynamic forms of storytelling that blend immediacy with personal reflection. The research seeks to promote intellectual discussion about the dynamics of digital participation in witnessing and narrating war experiences, ultimately contributing to a deeper understanding of the place digital diaries have among contemporary war narratives.
