Discussion

The paper explores the notion of “charged humor” (Krefting 2014) in contemporary stand-up ethno-comedy of South Slavs in German speaking countries. This "post-monolingual" (Yildiz 2013) stand-up shifts the borders between in- and outgroup. I will argue that within post-migrant affective publics the difference in power relations between autochthonous and migrant population is overcome by mediated feelings of connectedness through story telling on both: digital and analogous stages. The chargedness of ‘ethnic’ jokes seems to gradually disappear from ethno-comedy that has been influenced by the platform logic of TikTok and Instagram.
