In Ukraine, amidst the ongoing resistance to Russia's aggression, the Ukrainian IT business community stands out, with some enterprises displaced outside of the country while others steadfastly remain within its borders. Contrary to expectations, these businesses demonstrate a remarkable commitment to providing public goods and addressing the broader societal needs, reflecting their dedication to the welfare of the Ukrainian state and wider society. But why do Ukrainian IT business respond to the war with such a broad-society-oriented logic despite its presumed high mobility and weak attachment to local state and communities? Building on the collection of empirical case studies and semi-structured interviews, the paper provides the conceptual framework to understand the broadening of corporate interest and highlight several explanations for this empirical phenomenon.
