Discussion

Russia's unprovoked military aggression against Ukraine is powerfully justified in Russia's policy of fakes. The war reinforces the fundamental role of simulacrum (Jean Baudrillard) and falsification in creatiing a new communicative base between two countries. Russia's war against Ukraine is taking place in the conditions of the latest communication technologies, which contribute to the rapid spread of unreliable or incomplete information, which is called fake. It distorts the truth by deliberately changing its content to favour a false representation. The Russian propaganda fake about radio-controlled war geese is one of the first and widely known. This fake caused hundreds of memes, clips and commercial products from Ukrainians. The paper aims to analyze Russia's policy of fakes against Ukraine in the context of its imperial adaptation of postmodernism as a reified and applied cultural phenomenon. The conundrum aspect of this analysis is the post-colonial component, which provides grounds for identifying how to legitimize Russian fakes about the guilt of the West, the protection of others, the great Russian culture, etc.
