Discussion

The social nature of a person suggests that he strives for inclusion in society (in the community) and, at the same time, for separation from society as an individual.

Social adaptation of an individual is the process of achieving harmonious relations with the social environment in the event of an adaptive situation, the process of achieving relative adaptation to it through necessary changes in the structure of the individual (transformation of social norms and values into internal, personal attitudes and values of a person) and ways of his behavior. The result of the adaptation process is adaptability as the most stable state of the organism in new conditions. In addition, it is not only a process, but also the result of establishing and correcting the relationship between the individual and the social environment, the entry of the individual into a new culture for him. Therefore, successful adaptation is inextricably linked with the possibilities of optimizing psychological-pedagogical and social-cultural assistance. There are several forms of adaptation that relate to different spheres of human existence: physiological, psychological, social, cultural, etc. In the process of social adaptation, in particular, the conditions of the social environment and human capabilities, expectations and needs are reconciled. Cultural adaptation means mastering cultural values and features of living in order to form a comfortable standard of living.

With the full-scale invasion of russia on February 24, 2022, millions of people moved to safer regions of Ukraine and beyond. The Transcarpathian region was no exception, as several border crossings are located here, through which thousands of Ukrainian refugees fled to Europe and other countries of the world. During the three years of the war, Transcarpathia received about 400,000 refugees, some of whom will remain here, as they have nowhere to return. The majority of IDPs are women with children, pensioners, people with disabilities and health problems. It is extremely difficult for these categories of IDPs to adapt to a new social environment. The work of many social services, crisis centers, religious (Caritas) and charitable organizations (Red Cross, Nehemiah, Owl's Nest) has been activated and deployed in the region.

The existing situation determines the choice of the research topic - the study of the socio-cultural adaptation of IDPs in a new environment.
