Discussion

The Russian economy has continued to grow since 2022 despite economic sanctions imposed by the West. However, there are significant differences in the economic situation of Russian regions. Regions heavily dependent on exports to the West have suffered considerably, while regions oriented towards Asia, including China, have done well. I will discuss these differences and explain their causes using the example of Sakha Republic and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
