Discussion

The paper analyzes the ideological trends reflected in the Russian mass media for the period 2011 - 2025. Particular attention is paid to how official propaganda increased anti-Western rhetoric, attacked civil rights in Russia, gave a variety of reasons for the war with Ukraine and covered the course of military operations. The analysis is based on the database of Russia's mass media consisting of more than 23,000 newspapers, magazines, news agencies, radio and TV. The paper shows how propaganda techniques changed depending on domestic and foreign political events. Special attention is paid to analyzing the similarities and differences between Russian propaganda and propaganda in the USSR and other totalitarian regimes of the 20th century.
