Discussion
This paper explores the articulation of environmental futures by Soviet and Russian science, with a particular focus on climate futures. Russian science has longstanding interest in this area of future-gazing, and debate gained traction from the late 1950s onwards within the context of growing international interest in global climate change. The paper follows the core threads of associated debate as they evolved 1950s-1990s. The final part of the paper moves on to reflect on discussions of Russia's climate futures embedded in recent scientific discussion.
