Modern scientific approaches to Greek-Catholicissues are characterized by increasingly frequent emergence into the world of ethnicity and culture, strong emphasis on culture-creating activity of Greek-CatholicChurch. For the last 2 – 3 decades a group of authoritative scientists (philosophers, historians, cultural experts, art historians, philologists, musicologists) has been fruitfully working in the field of studying Brest Church Union and Greek-Catholic Church as phenomenon of Belarusian history and culture. They investigated wide range of issues: Brest Church Union as phenomenon of the cultural and civilizational border; the changes it brought to geopolitical and cultural context of nations; its participation in cultural processes of 17–18thcenturies, contribution to development of architecture, painting, music; cultural revival and literary rise after 1596; the Order of Basil as cultural, intellectual force, its schools, libraries, printing houses; use of material and spiritual heritage of Church in 19th century by the new owners, transformation and “correction” of this heritage by them; protection of sacred relics during de-Unionization of 1830s; recruitment of Belarusian cultural and scientific elite of the 19th century from Greek-Catholic priestly families; others
