The full-scale war that Russia launched against Ukraine, and the consequent sanctions imposed by the West, resulted in a mass exodus of Russian citizens. Many of these migrants chose Georgia - a country with complicated relationship with Russia - as their destination. In this paper, I explore the ways in which local Georgians and Russian newcomers negotiate time, space and familiarity and analyze how their social interaction affects pre-existing hierarchies rooted in the history of Russian/Soviet political dominance.
