Discussion
The paper evaluates prominently militant tones found in the Russian orthodox discourse during Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Militancy becomes visible within religiosity when worldly occurrences are perceived as a manifestation of a cosmic war between the forces of good and evil. The paper addresses the question, how this rhetoric relates to constructing the Enemy and what role it plays in attempts to justify Russia’s war of aggression.
