Abstract
Imagine a laboratory that’s enabling the advancement of everything from long-duration energy storage to energy-efficient manufacturing membranes to silk coatings that extend the freshness of produce and proteins. Picture a lab that’s full of shared resources, equipment, hazardous waste management, and a supportive, engaging community of like-minded scientists and researchers working to design a more sustainable world.
Let us introduce you to Greentown Labs!
As the largest climatetech startup incubator in North America, Greentown brings together entrepreneurs, scientists, corporates, investors, policymakers, and many others with a focus on scaling climate solutions. With incubators in Somerville, Mass. and Houston, Texas, Greentown is home to more than 200 startups and has supported more than 500 since the incubator’s founding in 2011. These companies are developing solutions and services for the largest greenhouse gas-emitting sectors: electricity, transportation, agriculture and water, buildings, and manufacturing. Many are also working to deploy products to help build resiliency and adaptation into our communities and specifically for the communities that disproportionately feel the effects of climate change.
In this session, hear from Carey Ann Comeau, Senior Director of Wet Lab Operations at Greentown, about how Greentown supports climatetech entrepreneurs, and how those scientists are positively impacting sustainability efforts across the life sciences industry. Following Carey Ann’s presentation, attendees will hear directly from a Greentown member company, H20k Innovations, about how their work can support sustainability in drug discovery and manufacturing.
