The Open Access (OA) movement has been growing over the last10 years, with researchers needing to navigate a shifting landscape where thepace of change varies between countries and regions.What is driving Open Access, how is OA funding allocated,and what questions should researchers be asking their funders and institutions?This roundtable will examine what OA means for you as anauthor and consider where along the path different countries and regionscurrently stand in their OA journeys. The session will cover the facts you needto help you make informed choices about OA options, weigh up the pros and consof publishing OA in journals, and explore assumptions that may be held aboutOA. We will also reflect on questions and resources to help authors establishwhether a publishing venue is predatory, vanity publishing, or legitimateJournal Editors will also share their experiences of OA, andthere will be time for discussionand Q&A from the floor.
