Kazakhstan and Ukraine have a long history together, starting from the Soviet period, and in modern times. During Soviet times, our two countries were considered the breadbaskets of the state. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, relations strengthened, but they became more like partnerships.
2022 has become one of the most difficult years for Ukraine in its modern history due to Russia's notorious invasion of Ukraine. Since the beginning of the events at the end of February, official Kazakhstan has adhered to a neutral position due to allied relations with Russia. The liberal public of Kazakhstan (some urban and political activities, volunteers, and bloggers) clearly outlined its position and from the first day organized humanitarian and financial assistance to Ukraine.
Education is part of human activity which is also should be active and aim-oriented. One of the brightest signs that educational institutions of Kazakhstan announced their own programs to support youth from Ukraine and provide full-scholarships for students from Ukraine. Both institutions are private. There are KIMEP University and Narxoz University.
The research focus will be done to KIMEP University, which received 7 students from Ukraine for the full scholarship.
This exploratory study aims to investigate the following research questions: RQ1: What challenges students from Ukraine faced during their stay and study in Kazakhstan? RQ2: What effect will have study in Kazakhstan to students on minds and employability of Ukrainian scholarship holders?
The given study explores the ways to design University’s policy in hosting vulnerable categories of students, strengthening of inclusiveness into education process, increasing future employability.
