Discussion

The author proposes an presentation devoted to the analysis of the historical narrative on Ukraine in Russian secondary school before and after 24 February 2022.
In this article, the author will present the most recent changes that have been implemented by the authorities in the field of historical education in order to justify the aggression against Ukraine and to modify the interpretation and vision of the Ukrainian historical process.  Particular emphasis will be placed on the analysis of the content provided to students - both regarding the aggression itself and the vision of Ukrainian history. On the basis of an analysis of the core curriculum, narrative changes already introduced or planned to be implemented in history textbooks for secondary schools, regulations of the Ministry of Education. The author will try to show how the new phase of the war against Ukraine affects the Russian school - especially the historical narrative concerning Ukraine.
Within the framework of the article, the author will try to answer the question whether the aggression against Ukraine stimulates an even stronger instrumentalisation and modification of the vision of Ukrainian history within Russian historical didactics? Are the changes taking place groundbreaking and constitute a 'new quality' in the perception of the Ukrainian historical process, or are they rather a continuation of an earlier (the one before 24 February) narrative line?
