Discussion

My paper will discuss how critics, translators, and other intellectuals of the 1930s, approached the works of three key British novelists of the eighteenth century: Henry Fielding, Tobias Smollett, and Laurence Sterne. By comparing archival case studies of publishing projects, I hope to reveal essential contexts that informed the approaches to these authors and highlight original and previously side-lined visual and critical interpretations.
