The Velvet Revolution ended the forty-year long rule of one party and one ideology. Once again, after forty years, Czech economists would take part in changing an economic system which had never before come to pass. In this paper, I will deal with the question in what measure the radical social and economic transformation affected economics as an academic discipline  and to what institutional, personal and methodological changes gave birth.
