The number of synthetic processes being executed in continuous flow reactors keeps steadily increasing. A particular field of application concerns photochemistry, which in continuous flow becomes scalable, and hence has received increased interest as a technique to access new chemical structures. After a more general discussion on the opportunities that continuous flow chemistry may provide, our research efforts within the framework of the European Lead Factory will be discussed, in which flow photochemistry has been used to access novel heterocyclic scaffolds for the production of focused compound libraries. Furthermore, a continuous flow photochemical approach for the synthesis of reactive molecular click-probes, that can be applied in bioconjugation strategies, will be highlighted
