The BEARR Trust supports civil society organisations working with vulnerable people in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Established in the early 1990s, we promote locally led health and welfare initiatives, believing that small grass-roots organisations have the potential strength and resilience to help vulnerable people and to solve local problems most effectively.
Since 2006, we have operated a Small Grants Scheme, which in recent years has funded projects concerned with violence against women and girls, the employability of young people with mental and physical disabilities, mental health issues, vulnerable older people, and socially isolated groups, among other themes.
Since February 2022, our Ukraine Appeal has provided funds for humanitarian aid in Ukraine and Moldova. 100% of funds raised for the Appeal go directly to local partners; to date, we have dispatched around £482k in emergency support.
