Mr George Bocean

PhD Candidate in Russian Studies at Durham University as part of the School of Modern Languages and Culture. Currently researching the socio-political and theoretical links between Marxism and Christian Orthodox religion in late Tsarist and early Soviet periods.
Research interests: 19th and 20th century Russian/Soviet history, Berdiaev, Bogostroitel'stvo, cultural revolution, intellectual history, Kojeve, Marxism, Proletkul't, Slavophiles versus Westernisers, social history.
Also teaching assistant at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies at University College London, and has recently started being interested in Russia's historical and cultural relations with Western Europe and also its Slavic neighbours, especially Serbia and Ukraine.
