Dr Michael Kossenjans

Michael Kossenjans is a Director of Chemistry within the Discovery Sciences unit at AstraZeneca Gothenburg, Sweden. He is currently leading the so-called iLAB which is focussing on the build of fully automated chemistry capabilities to support research projects across the enterprise with rapid synthesis of new screening compounds.
Michael holds a PhD in organic chemistry and performed research in academic labs in Germany, Spain and the US before starting his industrial career at Sanofi (former Aventis Pharma). Michael joined AstraZeneca in 2004 and since then hold various roles in Medicinal Chemistry and Discovery Sciences. Michael’s main interests lie in early phase drug discovery, ranging from new hit and lead finding paradigms as well as application of new technologies to compound synthesis and diversification to new therapeutic modalities.
