Profile of Dr Lisa Mohamet
In 2017, Lisa joined GSK preclinical R&D as a Scientific Leader to head up the advanced cellular model platform group to support lead drug discovery programs. In 2018, her team moved to the newly formed Functional Genomics department, where she is Head of Translational Cell Science, leading a team of 30 scientists, with a focus on the application of iPSC-derived cell types, in vivo models and organoids for use in CRISPR screening for target discovery across multiple therapeutic areas. Prior to joining GSK, Lisa was a Royal Society of Edinburgh/BBSRC Research Fellow at The University of Manchester and has over ten years’ experience in human stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. Subsequently, Lisa co-founded StrataStem Ltd, an innovative spin-out biotech company, utilizing stem cell technology to identify stratification opportunities for Alzheimer’s disease. Lisa was named as one of BioBeats’ ‘Rising Stars’ of the top 50 UK women entrepreneurs and leaders in biobusiness in 2016.
