Profile of Dr Peter Coombs
Peter Coombs is a Principal Scientist at LifeArc in the Biology Department (Protein Sciences group lead). Following completion of his PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Oxford, he took a post-doctoral position at the National Institute for Medical Research in Mill Hill looking at structural and biophysical properties of influenza viruses. Since 2012, he has worked at LifeArc, predominantly using protein engineering, biophysical approaches and structural biology to further small molecule and antibody drug discovery projects, with a particular focus on fragment screening. In the last few years, Pete has led on multiple antibacterial projects at LifeArc, focusing on high-throughput protein expression, purification and fragment screening workflows, and ligandability evaluation to aid target selection and rapid early-stage project progression.
