Automating the chemical discovery process: Challenges and Opprtunities

Wed30  Nov09:35am(45 mins)
Plenary Keynote:
Prof Mimi Hii

The 21st Century promises to be the golden age for digital technologies, which in turn, challenges the practice of synthetic chemistry. The vision for ‘lab of the future’ is the greater integration of automated equipment with data workflows.
In this presentation, I will describe our efforts in inaugurating a centralised automated research facility (ROAR) in the U.K., to support training of early career researchers, as well as supporting technical needs of SME’s. Our attempts to integrate automated data-led processes in our research will be demonstrated with a few case studies, including high-throughput screening in continuous flow and online analytical methods.
